5 Songs to Help You Survive Your Long-Distance Relationship

Have you ever experienced the continuous texting of “good morning” and “good night” daily, without actually meeting them? Have you ever wondered why you are so eager to meet him or her? Have you ever listened to a love song and cried so hard? Have you start losing faith in your relationship? Here are some songs to help you power through:

Snow Patrol feat. Martha Wainwright – “Set The Fire To The Third Bar”

The combination between Snow Patrol’s and Martha Wainwright’s voices have resulted a pure, warm dialogue to describe the lovers’ feelings. The desire of having someone in your arms, the scent of your partner, and the escape from being lonely, are established throughout the chorus. One will always remember how he or she makes you feel. After a long journey, there will be always be a perfect reunion.

I’m miles from where you are, I lay down on the cold ground

Bruno Mars – “Long Distance”

Personally, this is my favourite one. This song stunned me when I first heard it, and my tears dropped 20 seconds in, as if it was specially created to touch my feelings. With the accompaniment of the piano and the “heart-to-heart” lyrics, I can’t deny that it has perfectly expressed a long distance relationship. What will be your feeling in a long distance relationship – depressed or blessed? You decide.

But we’re stuck where we are, and it’s so hard, you’re so far

Avril Lavigne – “Wish You Were Here”

After listening to this song, who do you miss the most? Who do you wish were there with you? No matter what, they are staying in your heart, right here and right now. Indeed, it is heart-breaking to see Avril Lavigne crying in this video with the repetitive words – ‘Damn’, ‘Here’ and ‘Near’.

You’re always there, you’re everywhere; but right now I wish you were here

Kyle Park – “Long Distance Relationship”

When Kyle’s country song sinks into lovers’ hearts, some may recall conflicts, crying on the phone, hoping to meet them, and staying by their side. “I miss you” seems to be a simple phrase but it means more than that – determination, trust, and responsibility, which is hard to convey on the telephone.

“Everything I wanna say, can’t always be face to face; but know I love you just as much on the telephone”

Jordan Smith – “Stand In The Light”

Jordan Smith’s beautiful voice takes us to a world, full of hope and love. Those powerful words in his lyrics have provided a great impact, encouraging you to stay strong and be yourself in a relationship. Undeniably, it is one of my favourite songs in my recently played playlist.

Stand in the light, and be seen as we are

Every couple has their stories and there will be some specific songs that sing to their hearts to describe their relationships. Music brings them together and strengthens their love to trust each other and cherish every moment. To those who are experiencing a Long Distance Relationship, ALL THE BEST!
