As Finn from Adventure time hollers with advocation, it’s ARTICLE TIME! Or something along the lines of so… This brand new article is about Coachella (a.k.a. Coachellafest, Coachella Festival) a great music & arts festival that occurs annually for 3 days founded by Paul Tollett. Coachella is organized by Goldenvoice and takes place at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California in the Inland Empire’s Coachella Valley. The music featured at the fest includes diverse genres such as indie rock, hip-hop, electronic music and also sculptures. They hold continuous live music and the main stages include the Coachella Stage, Outdoor Theathre, Gobi Tent, Mojave Tent, Sahara Tent & last but not least the Oasis Dome that was added in 06′ and 11′.
The festival takes place in a desert and features some of the most popular and established artists and groups. Notable appearances by artists/bands at the festival include Paul McCartney(from the Beatles), Arcade Fire, Arctic Monkeys, Duran Duran, Radiohead, Daft Punk, The Cure, Muse, Gorillaz, The Strokes, The Chemical Brothers, Blur, The White Stripes, Jay-Z, The Prodigy and Red Hot Chili Peppers. Earlier in the history of Coachella,on the 5th of November 1993, Pearl Jam played in front of almost 25,ooo fans at the Empire Polo Club, which beforehand never hosted a music festival. Pearl Jam’s management chose the site as part of a boycott of Ticketmaster, the event established a suitability for large-scale events. Due to its remote location and hot, dry climate a few years elapsed before the next big event.
This year’s edition, specifically weekend 1 oversaw a three night musical bonanza including headlining sets by;
The Stone Roses, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Blur, Earl Sweatshirt, Foals…
the xx, Sigur Rós, Two Door Cinema Club, New Order, Franz Ferdinand…
Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Eric Prydz, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Vampire Weekend, OMD…
This is a great festival and I recommend you guys and gals to go check this out! It’s in the US of A, so yeah… They manage their carbon footprint and there’s tents too. Add that with drinks, food, awesome visuals and great music, bang! Definitely wish I could make it for this festival one day… should be the bomb! 😀
